Euthanasia is going to be the main theme of my next novel. Now that is decided the time has come to plan the book and begin the writing
I will be honest from the start; I support voluntary euthanasia. That said, I am not interested in writing a polemic on the subject. I cannot see too many people being interested in that approach. I want to write a serious book that looks at euthanasia in the form of a consideration of the arguments both for and against. Obviously, I will be tending towards one side rather than the other, but my plan is to do so sympathetically. It will not be a tub beating exercise.
I have a very rare muscle condition, Myotonia Congenita. Of the two recognised variants I have Beckers's, which brings with it not just an impaired ability for my muscles to relax after contraction but also sudden and unexpected bouts of weakness, especially in my arms and legs. My symptoms are severe, but I do get … Continue reading How the Myth of Sisyphus relates to Me today
Yet again an entire month has gone by without me writing anything for my blog. The usual reasons apply; busy, seasonal holidays, illness (nothing major, just man-flu), disappointments, etc. Nothing of any real note actually but all of which combine to frustrate me all the same, and it is the New Year again! My wife mentioned it a week or two ago and a trainer on a work course that I am attending also brought it to everyone’s attention. I found this both rewarding and a little baffling. The … Continue reading Mindfulness, Observing, and discovering a fad before it became popular.
Do you ever get the feeling that you will never have enough time? I don’t mean just in terms of your expected lifespan, I mean to do all the things that you want to do. I am beginning to feel that way. It is a strange sensation. It gives rise to feelings of frustration, stress, … Continue reading Time, again!
Life, whether you want it to or not, intrudes into writing. This is even more keenly felt when you live with a significant other, such as a spouse, who happens to have a birthday on a weekend. Now I am not yet a highly successful author sat in their own study in some palatial mansion, … Continue reading Doesn’t Time Fly When You’re Having Fun!
I am not a fan of the ‘New Year Resolution’, I just never saw the point in it. If you are going to resolve to do something then do it, here and now, don’t wait for some social convention to come along once a year; that is just procrastination! When it comes to doing things … Continue reading Resolutions Before the New Year
